In 1999, friends were houseboating on Californias Lake Oroville, among them newlyweds Joelle and Todd. When Joelle threw a pass during a game of keep-away her diamond ring slipped off and fell into the water. The ring sank quickly to the lake bottom 30 feet below, never to be seen again… or so everyone thought. In recent years, lake levels throughout the West have fallen, turning portions of lake bottoms into land. In 2008, Joelle and Todds friends Rick and Cheryl were houseboating again at Oroville and decided to look for the ring for fun. With photos from the 1999 trip to help them determine where they should look, the friends went searching and unbelievably enough, they found it!
